Since I tend to think government regulation is useful and helpful, I read the article The Tyranny of the Nanny State. The whole time I was reading this article I was realizing how all this article was doing was stating the worst things the government regulation has ever done. This article was just trying to get their audience to feel sympathetic for them and the stories it shared. Everything has pros and cons, even government regulation. Nothing in this world is completely perfect. All this article informed me with was the worst possible things from government regulation and to make me feel bad. Except I picked up on what this article was trying to convey and I didn’t fall for it. It made my belief for government regulation is stronger now than it was before reading this article. I can see where the perspective of this writer is coming from but I feel like whoever wrote this article isn’t taking in all of what government regulation really does pros and cons. In my opinion to gain a perspective on something and create a strong opinion, you need to look at every aspect of the topic and not just see one side of something and go off of that. Ill admit it, I didn’t know much of the cons of government regulation but this article gave it to me, which like I said after reading it made my opinion on this topic stronger than it was before.
The whole time I was reading this article the only thing going through my brain is how people really think that women don’t have the same opportunity to win an election as men do blows my mind. Men don’t win elections because they are men, they win because people like their insights on topics, not because they are men. Women don’t lose elections because they are women, they have lost elections before because the people just like another candidates’ ideas better. In the article Lawless said herself, "I did not lose because I was a woman. I lost because I was challenging a popular incumbent in the primary,". Coming from a women’s mouth herself, women don’t lose elections because of their sex. In the presidential running for 2016, there are two women running for president while there are over 10 men running for president. There are just simply more men that run in elections, if their were more women that ran a women could easily win an election if she had ideas that the people would like. I personally think the presidential candidate Carly Fiorina has a good chance of winning the presidential election because she brings great ideas to the table for this country. People will vote for her because of her ideas and what she can bring to this country, not because of her sex.
I think if I had to choose a winner from last nights debate I would say that Carly Fiorina won the debate. There were some other candidates that I believe had a very good night like Marko Rubio, Chris Cristie, and Dr. Ben Carson, but Carly Fiorina hands down had a good night. Carly Fiorina didn’t let other candidates question her opinions or statements she had made previously or during this debate, she backed up everything clearly, concisely and confidently. Carly Fiorina had done something no other candidates has done, and that was put Trump on the defensive. Carly Fiorina stated, “Having met Vladimir Putin, I wouldn’t talk to him at all. We’ve talked way too much to him. What I would do immediately, I would begin rebuilding the Sixth Fleet. I would begin rebuilding the missile defense program in Poland. I would also conduct military exercises in the Baltic states. I’d probably send a few thousand more troops to Germany. Vladimir Putin would get the message.” This quote is a very strongly opinioned thought she brought to the table. The way she delivered this message to the people and the other candidates as a very stern and thought out opinion was something many people wouldn’t expect from her. She had a lot of moments like this one throughout the debate.
The topic that is the most important issue that faces our nation today could be gay marriage. I believe this is an issue that is important because this is something that should have never been passed or allowed. I do not believe in gay marriage at all. Gays around the nation pushed their beliefs on the straight ways that have always been in place. Have the normal and right ways and laws America has always had been pushed upon them? No they have not, they have just been in place. I feel that getting gay marriage passed has showed other types of people or groups to come out and try and change other things that should never be changed. The Bible states in Leviticus 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them." In the bible there are many places where homosexuality is wrong and considered a sin, but this part of the bible has stuck with me and made me realize how America should be and shouldn’t be. I believe gay marriage should not be legal in this country. Republican candidate Mike Huckabee has the opinion of The fact that the congress wrote and passed a law when the constitution says otherwise. I believe with his facts he stated and how Mike Huckabee feels towards gay marriage.
