Crime scene investigation
For this project each student was paired with another student to make groups of two. There was three different crime scene set up, and each group was assigned to one crime scene to solve with their partner. Each group was taught and used special techniques to solve the crime. Each group used techniques like blood typing, DNA processing, forensic entomology, etc. Each person made journals on each of the techniques to summarize what the technique did for us and how it brought us closer to solving the crime.
I really enjoyed working with one other person because it really made each person do equal amount of work and help each member understand and do each of the techniques. I was really interested in how easy it was to get frustrated with that job, but you couldn't stop until you solved the crime, so you needed to problem solve to help you overcome the challenges in the process. It was such a relief after all of the hard work you put into the crime and you solve it. I feel that I did a lot of work to contribute to the project and to my group. There wasn't a leader in the group because my partner and I worked so well together and contributed equally to the project.

shark dissection
At the beginning of the dissection unit each student was assigned one of three specimens to dissect with either one other partner or with a small group depending on what specimen you got assigned to. The three options for specimens were either a cat, a fetal pig, or a shark. My partner and I got assigned to a dogfish shark. The first couple days my partner and I studied and examined the external features of our fish until we fully understood the external anatomy. After the external anatomy of our fish was fully memorized it was time to start on the internal anatomy of the shark. We went through each function of each and everything in the internal part of the body until we could explain each and every part inside of the body fully. To test us on the dissection and finish the unit each partner recorded each other going through each and every function in the whole body of the shark, internal and external.
Monkey meal planning
For the Monkey Meal Planning Project, we studied the different diets of monkeys and chimpanzees. After reading about the mission of the primate rescue center we began making our own meals for monkeys and chimpanzees that have been rescued. There were many specific requirements that we had to follow to complete a full meal for these monkeys and chimpanzees. check out the process of my recipe below!
Community Connection
To give back to my community I decided to join a program called big brothers big sisters. This program is and after school program that meets once a week for high school kids to meet with their little's that the were matched with at the beginning of the school year. This program offers kids that signed up for this program to have a mentor to stick with them throughout the school year. This offers kids who don't really have someone to be close with, with someone who can be their role model. I joined this program because I love to see kids be happy. When you see your little buddy so have to be with you really brings joy to your heart. Your " little" wants nothing more than to be around you, learn from you, and take what you have to offer them is nothing but happiness. I am glad I joined this program and look forward to bringing more smiles to kids I get paired with in years to come.
